Good morning, Lovely Peeps! 😊
#ThreeGoodThings to start off #today :
1 - I remembered it was bin day & got them out before the truck arrived. 💪
2 - I found a tin of fruit with a pinhole leak before any ants or other critters did, & before it burst / exploded. 😯 Clean-up was quick and very easy.
3 - I have discovered I have more Dijon mustard than I first realised! 🎉 (Rice & beans are all very well, but a girl's gotta have her spices, condiments, and other flavourings as well! 🌶️ 😋)
4 - I am reorganising my wee pantry, which is leading to the above discoveries, and also is such a peace to my mind & general state of being. 🥰
(For those of you who remember such things, I am finally properly turning a small cubbyhole unit a friend gave me into a pantry, with each cubbyhole dedicated to something different - dried / tinned fruits, vegetables, sauces & condiments, etc. It is LOVELY.)
5 - a neighbour has given me * an entire bag of dirt * (I only asked for a couple of cupfuls), so I am going to try planting garlic for my windowsill. 🧄 🤩
6 - I am going to take her a thank-you card (as soon as I have written it!) and a couple of past-edible garlic heads this afternoon so she can try growing garlic as well. 💪
7 - It is a quiet, but very peaceful & purposeful day. I feel I can 'rest', but still move forward with tasks as well. 🙏
8 - I know y'all are lovely peeps & none of you are going to come back and say 'Hey! That's more than three things!' 😄
1. First time making dairy free pudding from scratch and it turned out great!
2. Fixed a mistake on my top which had me unpicking 4 rows of cables.
3. Having a good time playing Banished.
Today has been a wonderful day!
Visited art galleries with my partner to celebrate 16 years of marriage.
Had an astounding dinner! (Though pricy enough that I’m not eating out again this month 😅)
And then it was my high school 20-year reunion, so we popped in for a couple hours to catch up, see some old faces, and shamelessly plug my book 😂 I even got to give a toast!
I’m really lucky. What a good day.
1. Did a painting. Been struggling to find the mojo since the sketch weekend, so it was nice to push a brush around for a bit. (a clean desk so I have the space definitely helps!)
2. Got some Murdle books for hubby and I to do logic puzzles together.
3. Enjoyed a nice lunch out and then takeaway for dinner - it's nice to have a break from cooking sometimes.
1. Sleeping late on a weekend morning.
2. My hairdresser was so sweet to reschedule my haircut to Saturday because of my chaotic week. She is such a sweetheart.
3. The computer at the home improvement store had the formula for the discontinued paint I needed. They didn't have to try and match the old paint chip.
#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings for 5 June:
A company picnic that actually felt celebratory, with good food and better people, and seating set up in the shade of a big oak tree;
Then a neighbourhood potluck -- folks brought food and instruments and a round of trivia questions about our shared places;
And kittens! One of the neighbors is fostering a mama and her kittens. Says something about us that mama is now named Mnemosyne (Greek goddess of memory) and each of the kits is named for one of the Muses. (But only 5 kittens, not 9!)
#3goodthings
1. The rain this week has given the vegetable beds a refresh.
2. I don't have to water so often, the rain is doing it for me.
3. The parcel that delivery took away was at last delivered. I had put delivery instructions on the website, and hand written a note left outside, but he still wouldn't leave the parcel. Yesterday I was in when he called and managed to talk to him. Hopefully he now understands that we are fine with having parcels in the porch. Now have kitchen and loo rolls!
I should do these more often.
I got a bag of my favorite vegan jerky
I got a bunch of Japanese and Korean snackies
It's getting hot enough to warm the pool water
#3goodthings to end another week
1. The leftover cake from last weekend
2. A coworker/friend's face lighting up as they see me from the other side of the glass doors you have to badge in to get into our offices
3. Finishing the week early and going to the park to lounge in my hammock with a book
Some stuff feels heavy so it's a good reminder to be grateful:
+ FRIDAY WOOHOO and it was sunny AND it's a long weekend for me but not for the Kids, which means I have a special day off on Monday
+ homemade pizza for tea, which means leftovers for lunch tomorrow
+ cats
1. Finished the back of my sweater and started the front. Officially half way through it!
2. Tax return arrived, Planet Zoo 2 promptly pre-ordered
3. Bubble baths.
Had a customer at the bike shop recognize me for when I worked a supervisor position at a box retailer. I'd gone against company policy to help him out. Nice experience.
I got a Ray Bradbury quote thrown together like an elementary school project to make a sign. It's for my wife's classroom. It looks passable.
It's day 4 and I'm on track to get 10K steps a day to reach a goal of 300K for the month. I'll easily walk the 30 miles at this rate.
1. Went on a bike ride today for my errands.
2. Made a delicious dinner.
3. Finished the sleeve of my sweater and am 1/3 of the way through the back panel.
Three good things:
-> Even though it was helping my memory, I ended a pharmacy service that packed medications into individual dosage packets. Now I'm much more earth-friendly, even if I need to watch myself more carefully so I don't misdose.
-> Was able to get groceries after weeks without yesterday.
-> It's fascinating watching the construction workers building a new commercial property right outside my apartment window.
Yesterday:
- my usual electrician helped me to find a different one for a job he couldn't do quickly
- my new small multitool arrived
- new plausible option for charging the car near work

#3goodthings #today
1) made it to the library makerspace, and got a good start in on a raw silk patchwork coat. I may have bitten off more than I can chew being a newbie patchworker, but you learn by doing, right?
2) stopped by readings.com.au, and somehow had iron clad resolve and simply ordered library books galore instead of the usual 💸💸💸
3) treated myself to a night out with knitting and pizza at #peakmelbourne papa ginos on Lygon Street, complete with pizza dough throwing.
#melbourne
1. Made some ollas for the first time from 3 pounds of Terra Cotta clay. I will sink them into the soil in my elevated bins, fill them with water, and hope they keep our tomatoes and herbs alive while we're out of town. (photo of one attached)
2. My husband grilled for the first time this year. Marinated tofu, tiny eggplants, potatoes, and asparagus. It was delicious.

Today has been a very strange day, so to focus my mind before I crawl into bed. Lets find the 3 good things of today. Its not often I do this, but today has been overwhelming and I need to make an effort to focus on the good things that did happen today.
1. Being among the humans and actually chatting comfortably with them.
2. The wonderful cool breeze that has surrounded my house and down by the river today.
3. The little tin of heart shaped cookies that a friend gave me as a thanks for giving theatre tickets to her and her granddaughter.

3. The Kindle app announced that as of today I have read in the app at least a little bit every day for 1000 days. Sometimes it's just a page or two to keep the streak going. One of the best helpers for that is the book Tiny Moments of Joy by @georgepenney
1. I'm not all the way healed, but I am seeing huge progress in my mental and physical health from a year ago. My nervous system is finally starting to function more normally. Maybe for the first time ever.

3. My fav driver got sprint quali pole!
Three good things for yesterday

-took a little day trip out of the city. It was nice to go somewhere different for an afternoon.
-travel companion and I got along very well and, as the day was coming to a close, I got some alone time just as I was starting to get cranky
-felt disproportionately tired after my trip but still managed to get a couple of tasks crossed off my list
+ it has been the most challenging work day but it finished with an email from a former boss, asking if I had some time to do a bit of freelancing for him and damn, if that wasn't just the spark I needed in this moment
+ beautiful sunset, truly some amazing colours. What a blessing to see it (I tried to take a picture but it was meh compared to the real thing so you'll have to take my word for it)
+ we have enough to eat today, and for the next several days. This isn't such an unusual thing – we almost always have enough to eat – it's just good to have that reassurance of enough food
#ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings #gratitude #food #nature #work

3. The Terro liquid ant bait seems to work as well as folks here said it would: it solved our kitchen ant problem almost entirely in just two days.
#3GoodThings @3goodthings
Three good things today (some are prospective, I'm going to try to get offline for a bit).

3. Parents eat free at her school, so free lunch for me cooked by somebody else and the french fries were excellent.

2. Drafted a custom underbust corset pattern. Step 1 to launching my couture corset company!
3. Made 6 lasagnas for the freezer and 1 for dinner.
• Unforecast sun today meant the solar batteries stayed charged up for me to use the wifi for an online class without worrying about leaving enough juice for the friend whose house it is, who arrives tonight for his spring visit.
• Cleaning and tidying was less stressful than I feared; in fact I’m very pleased with the final result, complete with finishing touches that will make for delightful little surprises.
• It’s good to be home for the bulk of the next three weeks, where I can actually put things away and cozy in with my altars and home critters (including a buck!—and a junco who was obsessed with the junco in the mirror).

2) Another neighbour drove me to the store so I could buy all the heavy groceries I needed & are too much to carry.
(I can generally handle what I need in a week, but I was at least a month behind and almost out of *everything*. 😬 )
3) Almost EVERYTHING I bought was ON SALE!! 🤩 And because I didn't have to worry about how to get it home, I could stock up!! 🎉
I don't quite feel I can really breathe / relax yet, there is still so much in chaos in my life - but I do feel the warmth of people's kindness, and maybe a teeny-tiny little bit that this could become HOME. 🥰
I am so, so, so thankful for everything - but mostly people and their kindness. 🙏
