Is there some kind of job portal specifically for remote environmental / spatial data work in Europe?
I got Germany covered, but unfortunately there don't seem to be any opportunities that would be a good fit for me. So now I'm considering fully remote work anywhere in the EU.
Any pointers?
FYI - being so confident you quit your old job before the interview has happened is not a good look.
The university where I have an office is looking for a new University Librarian. It pays quite decent cash money, not in bananas.
I quite like the people who work at this place, so do share with any good librarian exec managers who want an office with three different possum species, many parrots and small birds, and copious quantities of bicycles on campus.

💜 I have a favor to ask: If you know of a team using #ElixirLang, #Phoenix, or #LiveView that might benefit from a seasoned developer helping out part-time or full-time for tech debt cleanup, system stabilization, testing, documentation, or mentoring -- an introduction would be very much appreciated. #FediHire

She has 7+ years of experience, most recently leading design at #Threema, where she joined as their first designer and built out the product experience across mobile, desktop, and web. Before that, she worked on various client projects at EGGS Design in Oslo.
If you know of any openings for a designer, her portfolio is https://aditivijay.framer.website, or reach out to me for her details.

I still need to find a new job.
I am a software dev, professionally mostly web stuff, not my thing, want to move closer to hardware/more technical (e.g. embedded), pick up things very quickly. Other vague interests include graphics programming, algorithm engineering, space or medtech.
Hints for anything nd, queer, and remote (or Berlin) friendly not too much on the "AI" bandwagon welcome.
I'm looking for work, please boost!
I'm a senior software engineer with 35 years of experience. I've worked across an unusually wide range of domains: mobile game backends, privacy-preserving data platforms, high-throughput COVID testing infrastructure, email and account systems, e-payment processing, job marketplace systems, and bioinformatics. I pick up new domains quickly and have a track record of doing it repeatedly. I understand how to turn business needs into engineering requirements.
I've worked remotely since the 1990s and can operate with minimal supervision. I don't need hand-holding to find the right problem to solve. Several of my most valued projects were self-directed: I identified the need, built the thing, and shipped it.
Some of the technologies I'm familiar with include: Python, Perl, TypeScript/JavaScript, Haskell, Go, C, Java. Postgres, MySQL, SQLite. Flask, SQLAlchemy. AWS (Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, EC2). Docker, Git. Github and Gitlab.
I've also repeatedly picked up new languages and stacks as needed: Haskell for differential privacy research, TypeScript for a 24/7 AWS Lambda system, Flask for my most recent employer. I've become productive with new systems over and over, and I can do it quickly.
I'm also a published author (Higher-Order Perl, Morgan Kaufmann), longtime blogger, and conference speaker with a reputation for making complex ideas clear.
My résumé is at https://plover.com/~mjd/cv/Mark%20Jason%20Dominus.pdf

Well, this week as it happens, was the week one of my projects at work got its first dose of AI slop.
Pity for the workplace, while it's my job to review the work of fellow employees and potentially contractors… a LLM is not a human, has no legal rights under Australian law and is not able to enter into any contracts or be held liable for malpractice… as such, cannot be considered an employee or contractor.
Therefore I do not consider myself required to review bot-generated content. If a commit fails to disclose which bits were human-created, I'll have to assume none of it is human-generated.
Thus ends my involvement of a code base I first started with the company back in 2017. That #FediHire tag is looking tempting.
RE: https://freeradical.zone/@tek/116557490165693494
And tagging #FediHire and #GetFediHired for visibility. Hi, IT gang!
I'm hiring an IT staffer, FTE, onsite in San Francisco. We're transitioning from tiny startup mode to small business and hiring lots of less-technical staff. I need someone to manage onboarding/offboarding, deploy Okta across the SaaS products we use, service requests from employees, and otherwise help automate All The Things so that doubling headcount doesn't mean doubling the amount of manual work.
You'll report to me and we'll tackle these things together. DM for more info. Please boost!
If anyone wants to recruit a senior R&D code monkey with multiple degrees for a job that will involve neither "AI" bullshit nor "blockchain" bullshit nor "HFT" bullshit nor killing people nor destroying the planet just for the heck of it...
I get cheaper and cheaper by the minute as things descend deeper and deeper into nutty "More cloud and more AI will fix it!!" chaos around me.
Located in Germany. Will only work remote as we're tied to this place due to aging parental units. Strong preference for something related to actual green technology such as solar.

The crates I maintain on crates.io don't have 2.8 billion downloads for nothing. My work is high quality, as anyone who has worked with me will attest to.
Unsure what I can do? I've spent some time optimizing the `time` crate. From knocking 10% off of hot paths to 10x speedups in edge cases, the gains are unquestionably real and impactful.
Interested? Send me a message here or send an email to what's on my profile: https://github.com/jhpratt

Given the situation in the US I'm now living in Canada, and I'm looking for a new job as my current one is obviously American. If you are or know a Canadian employer with use for a person in Toronto with a good understanding of SQL databases, Linux administration (mostly Debian but I can do Fedora), HTML-based Web backends, ServiceNow, and Microsoft cloud offerings, plus some networking experience (office networks and outbound-filtering firewalls), technical writing skills, and significant programming experience with Rust, Python, C#, and PowerShell, please get in touch via email or DMs.

Hey #Seattle #Tacoma #PugetSound any one looking for a #FediHire ? Someone moving out here needs our help!
My role has recently been been shifted as my team has deprioritised upstream linux kernel development and I am looking for a new role as a result.
Over the past couple of years I have been the top contributor to core memory management by patch count and lines of code changed, and the 2nd-top reviewer.
I also wrote a 1,300 page textbook on the linux kernel memory management subsystem - https://nostarch.com/linux-memory-manager
See https://ljs.io/kernel for a detailed list of what I've done, and https://ljs.io/cv.pdf for my up-to-date CV.
I have been heavily involved in the community, where I established the memory management maintainership model, and have given talks at Linux Plumbers, Kernel Recipes and the key memory management conference LSF/MM/BPF.
I have a proven track record of working very effectively upstream and can really help any company who has needs in this area.
If you are interested or know of any opportunities around linux kernel memory management, please reach out!
Anyone hiring?
My work told me they will not be giving me a job after my apprenticeship (as a Developer) ends in the summer. I do volunteering work in first aid and like basic human rights for all.

Uh-uh. Not at all.
Me looking for a job in 2012, bright and bushy tailed: I'd love to work on a video game!
Me looking for a job in 2026, ragged and teary-eyed: Please, anything but AI!
Oh yeah, I'm looking for a new position, either remote or in New York City if the rest of the team would also be in the same office. I'm a lead software engineer by title but I'm also open to technical management. I'm knowledgeable in many web technologies including but not limited to: #PHP, #TypeScript, #Accessibility, #AWS, #Kubernetes, #SQL and #NoSQL.
I work best in medium to larger structures where responsibilities are well-separated, and middleware has been my mainstay for the past decade. I will not use AI assistants.

As many of you know I've been doing part time independent contracting for a few years now. But I got a bit too comfy and have only had a single client for awhile and they just let me know that they're going to be cutting my hours.
So, if you need a 30+ plus years of C, golang, python, etc developer, an OP/Admin with 20+ years of Linux/BSD administration, and/or 20+ years of Open Source project maintainership, please reach out!!
I have been suggested that the company I'm working is not doing well. Than and a push for AI is telling me it's maybe time to move on.
What am I? Currently I'm doing #Python, #SysAdmin, GitHub/GitLab admin (yes, both), some Kafka, used to do some Postgres (now we have a DB team), Ansible and more.

What do I want? No AI, no gambling, no blockchain. In #Marseille or remote. I can invoice abroad, but I would rather be an employee.

Hi, I'm brib. I've recently done a bunch of instancehopping but I'm liking this #GoToSocial instance thing so I think I might stick around here for a while.
In case the rampant self-hosting doesn't make it obvious, I'm a tech worker, or at least I would be if the tech industry wasn't quite so evil. In the meantime I'm looking for work. #FediHire me if you want someone who likes tinkering with servers and has achieved a better uptime over February than Amazon or Claude.
I draw sometimes (but haven't done this in a while), I write sometimes (and got Low Spoons Day endorsed by @WeirdWriter !), I jump between projects like the #AuDHD-er I am, and... yeah. I don't know where my time goes, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might be shitposting on here.
I'm looking to meet fellow queerdos and #plural folk and neurodivergent peeps and techies who are just as fed up of AI bullshit as myself. Please say hi if we seem to vibe 😀 .

Y’all. Em brings a wealth of privacy, digital rights, and open-source information to the world. And she’s super smart and friendly.
If you need to fill a gap on your team, do yourself a favor and give her a look.

Conference over. My talk was a success.
But it pays nothing. Nobody is banging on my front door with jobs because I gave a talk at a big conference.
I desperately need a job, coming up on 9 months unemployed.
I am looking for Incidents, SRE, or Platform work. I have been judged as overqualified for Senior roles, so my focus is Staff+ and such.
My LI profile is as good as anything for understanding my work history, so here it is:
We are looking for a new member to join our DevOps team with these Skills:
* Linux administration
* LXC containers
* Prometheus + Grafana
Nice-to-haves:
* Orchestration / Ansible
* Nextcloud development / PHP
* Web app development / full-stack
Conditions:
* For now: mini-job 9.5 h / week
* From September: option to upgrade to 20-30 h / week
All creatures welcome! At equal qualifications, FLINTA* are preferred.

I'm officially opening the job hunt. As y'all know, I love technology. Finding ways to make the most of resources on hand is my specialty. Non-Profit world for the past decade.
I love building teams that feel valued, with a clear vision of how their work makes a difference.
Looking for orgs with a drive to make the world better & offer my skills to help that happen.
Boost, Like, Reply, have at it. 🙂
Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.
Once again I am asking if anyone has any job opportunities in software development or even something vaguely related to IT that they can refer me to. At this point I don't know what to do anymore.#FediHire #GetFediHired
